I am an award-winning author and Senior Lecturer in Comparative Politics at the University of Sydney. I have held visiting positions at Oxford University, Princeton University, and the University of Notre Dame. I hold a PhD in Government from Harvard University.
I am the author of Conservative Party-Building in Latin America: Authoritarian Inheritance and Counterrevolutionary Struggle (Oxford University Press, 2021), and of Authoritarianism: A Very Short Introduction (Oxford University Press, 2024). My latest book, Latin American Politics: A Very Short Introduction, is forthcoming with Oxford University Press.
Born and raised in British Columbia, Canada, I have been happy to call Australia home since 2015.
